A Perfect Starter Piece for a Young Italian Designer

Aldo Petruzzelli, a young and talented Italian designer, has created a masterpiece of design with his latest creation, Teresa. Inspired by renowned Italian chair designers Giò Ponti and Franco Albini, Petruzzelli combines the warmth of wood with sleek black upholstery to create a chair that exudes sophistication and elegance.

What sets Teresa apart from other chairs is not only its stunning design but also the meticulous craftsmanship that went into its production. Petruzzelli worked closely with skilled artisans to bring his vision to life, overcoming various challenges along the way. The manufacturing process involved the use of solid wood, specifically Noce Daniela, and waterproof black fabric. CNC machinery and a lathe were utilized to shape and refine the materials, resulting in a chair that is both visually striking and structurally sound.

Teresa measures 730 x 560 x 770 mm and weighs 15 kg, making it a substantial piece of furniture. However, Petruzzelli cleverly incorporated a handle on top of the chair, allowing for easy mobility despite its weight. The arms of the chair were designed to evoke the plasticity of mid-century furniture while adding a modern touch.

From ideation to production, the entire process of creating Teresa took approximately three months. Petruzzelli conducted extensive research on iconic chairs throughout history, which served as the foundation for his design. The project was completed during his fourth year of high school, where he was given the opportunity to showcase his creativity and skills.

Teresa has already garnered recognition in the design world, receiving the prestigious Iron A' Design Award in 2019. This award is given to designs that demonstrate innovation, practicality, and adherence to professional and industrial standards. Petruzzelli's creation has certainly met and exceeded these criteria, making Teresa a remarkable addition to the world of furniture design.
